Milan Vault got its start with concrete burial vaults. Since our company was founded, we have strived to produce strong, reliable, aesthetically appealing burial vaults that provide reassurance to families for the protection of their loved ones. Milan Vault has proudly partnered with Trigard for over 35 years to ensure our customers are getting the strongest product possible.
One of the most common questions we hear is: “What is a burial vault anyway?” Simply put, a burial vault is an outer burial container intended to protect the casket. Protection can come in many levels; from the most basic unlined, unsealed concrete box to a burial vault lined inside and outside with high quality polymer and a reinforced concrete core.
You may wonder if burial vaults are required by state and or local codes. Typically they are not; however, many cemeteries do have codes in place that require the use of an outer burial container. The protection provided by a quality burial vault is the first line of defense against exposure to outside elements. The difference between a standard concrete box and a burial vault may not be clear as you begin researching or planning but hopefully we can help.
A standard concrete outer burial container, or rough box, while it does meet the minimum standard for cemetery usage, does not have a seal in the joint line and it does not have a liner, therefore it does not provide resistance from the elements. A burial vault on the other hand does provide resistance from the outside elements. This is achieved by a polymer liner on the inside, and sometimes outside, as well as a secure seal of the joint line. As you look into the different types of Trigard vaults available in our product line, you will discover we provide vaults to fit every level of protection, from the very basic to metal and polymer liners. A Milan Vault burial vault, with our many years of experience coupled with our National Precast Concrete Association certification, brings you peace of mind through consistent quality.
